If your professional body partners with ATAH, your verified status becomes part of an AI-readable trust layer. If they don't, individual self-registration is supported. Either way, this is your reading of where AI-mediated professional discovery is going.
Two routes to representation
There are two routes for a professional to be represented in an ATAH-conformant registry. Both routes coexist permanently; matching treatment is identical between them.
Through your professional body. When a regulator or professional body partners with ATAH, member or licensee records are contributed by that body and verified against authoritative source data. This is the higher-confidence route because the source is the authority itself.
By individual self-registration. Where no partnered body covers a professional's category or jurisdiction, individual self-registration is supported. The professional registers, claims their record, and verifies their identity and credentials through whatever evidence is available. This carries less inherent verification weight than the partner route but provides a path for professionals whose bodies have not yet engaged with ATAH.
What this means for you
If you work in a regulated category, the most direct way to be represented in ATAH is for your professional body or regulator to partner with the protocol. They contribute your status, you do not manage your own record, and the data carries the authority of its source.
If your professional body has not yet engaged with ATAH, you can self-register — but it is worth raising the question with your association. Their decision shapes how professionals in your category are represented in AI-mediated discovery generally. The protocol is designed to be approached by bodies, not to be circumvented by individuals.
If you are an established practitioner — PR, coaching, consulting, project management, and similar — the same logic applies. Established categories have their own professional bodies; partnership through them is the protocol's preferred route.
ATAH is not a replacement for your existing marketing or visibility work. It is infrastructure for being represented to AI systems consistently and credibly. There is no guarantee of introduction volume, candidate-set position, or work; the protocol is designed to become a trusted handoff rail as platforms integrate.
